What is KSM?

KSM is short for Kamakazi Student Ministries, a ministry for 7th-12th graders at Monument Baptist Church. KSM is designed for students to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ. Maybe you don’t know anything about Jesus, that’s okay because at some point, neither did I! Maybe you have a little bit of knowledge about Jesus, but have questions- Bring It! Let’s seek answers together! Maybe you know a lot about Jesus, but you don’t know how to live your life to honor Him. Let’s take the Christian journey one step at a time, together!

Kam-a-kaze is a Japanese word which means “a divine wind”. It is someone who is willing to give up their life for a cause; someone who is willing to give up their life to Jesus Christ, and live for Him. Giving up your life might not sound easy or even fun, but just wait because God doesn’t work like we work- He makes weird things cool. He makes hard work seem easy. He makes giving a blessing. Come discover this God with us!

Who is the Student Minister?

Hello, I’m Niki Hays, your fearless leader! I have been serving at MBC as Student Minister since 2000, and I’m always waiting to see what God is going to do next in our ministry! I grew up in Deer Park, graduating from Deer Park High School. After that, I graduated from Houston Baptist University and Southwestern Seminary. But, the biggest part of my education has come from my experience with my students. I NEVER underestimate my students! Even though I might be labeled the teacher, they teach me more than they know.

My husband, Ryan, is the band director at Lomax Junior High. We both share a desire to work with, and serve, students. We have a baby boy named Ryder Samuel and a 9lb. chihuahua who still thinks she rules our home.

DISLIKES: Watching movies; Italian food; cats- ‘nuff said; Walmart on Saturday; Sporks (crazy invention)
